Buick Encore Oil Type

2019 Buick Encore Driving

The Buick Encore is an excellent choice for drivers looking for a sporty compact SUV that offers strong performance specs and great gas mileage! The Encore also features seating for up to five passengers in a spacious cabin equipped with the latest comforts and conveniences. If you drive a Buick Encore, the best way to keep it running smoothly is to come in every 7 to 8 months for routine maintenance. Routine maintenance includes oil changes, tire rotations, fluid inspections, and replacement of any worn-out components. An oil change is one of the most important services we perform at DeYarman Automotive Group since motor oil keeps your engine running efficiently and prevents it from overheating.

Vehicles run on many different types and grades of oil, so it’s important to know what works best for your vehicle. If the wrong type of oil is used in your vehicle, it isn’t necessarily dangerous, but it will cause problems for your engine down the road. The Buick Encore runs on synthetic oil with a grade of5W-30, but you should always check your owner’s manual to verify the correct oil type for your specific model. The service team at DeYarman Automotive Group has more details on a Buick encore oil change in the guide below – check it out!

Synthetic vs. Conventional Oil

Using the proper grade of oil is only half the story–you also want to make sure you know whether your vehicle runs on conventional or synthetic oil. Conventional (also called regular) oil used to be the norm, but more and more vehicles are running on higher-quality synthetic oil these days. The Buick Encore runs on synthetic oil, but you can use conventional if you don’t have any other options. If you do end up using conventional oil, you’ll have to get your oil changed more frequently–around 3,000 miles instead of 7,500 miles.

What’s the difference between oil types? They’re both petroleum-based, but they work a bit differently. Conventional oil is reliable and affordable, having been used in automobiles since their invention, but it doesn’t last as long. Synthetic oil is much newer by comparison; it’s mined from the ground and then chemically refined in a laboratory to make it longer-lasting and more efficient. As such, it’s also more expensive–but you don’t have to come in for oil changes as frequently!
